Our week in Kackskar was truly magical.....we could not recommend it more highly for those looking for a beautiful escape in the archipelago. We were two families totalling 9, 1 family in the main cabin (5), 1 in the bunk cabin (4). Beautiful cabin, eating space, everything we needed in the kitchen. Exploring was amazing. Sauna was PERFECT - we sauna-ed and swam on repeat for hours. You can cross the island in minutes (we went to the other side to watch the solar eclipse) and lay under the stars in the evening on the deck. The view is one of the best we have ever experienced. We got there by our own boat, but you could use the ferry service, very efficient. Highly recommend hire of the small rib for trips to Namdo (supermarket, fresh water) and Idoborg for a drink/meal. Comfort levels were perfect, although a few mosquitos kept us on our toes. The incinerator toilet is an adjustment, but very easy to use and manage for all ages. Child friendly - our kids are adventurous and they were aged 7-13, they LOVED it, if you have very young children, a little more supervision needed as lots of steps and a wild setting. The iron rich water in the taps was ok for most things (coffee, tea, cooking etc) but we did want to fill up with fresh water for drinking water. Great communication from the owners when needed. Wild, nature, calm and beautiful - we loved it!

Our stay on this beautiful little island was a truly special experience. After a week-long canoe trip, it was the perfect place to slow down, recharge, and simply enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Per and Tarja gave us a wonderfully warm welcome, even treating us to a delicious lunch on our arrival. What makes this place so unique is that it feels like a real home rather than a holiday rental. Everywhere you look, you notice thoughtful details, handmade decorations, and personal collections that create a warm and authentic atmosphere. You can clearly see how much love, time, and hard work the family has invested over the years—so much has been built by hand, making the house feel truly one of a kind. We really appreciated the trust they place in their guests by sharing such a special place. One of the highlights was the traditional seaside sauna, followed by a refreshing dip in the sea. Even washing on the rocks in nature instead of standing in a regular shower became a memorable part of the experience and made us feel even more connected to the island. We spent our days picking blueberries, taking the rowing boat to explore the nearby uninhabited islands, reading, relaxing, and simply enjoying life without a schedule. These five days were incredibly relaxing, and we left with wonderful memories. Thank you, Per and Tarja, for your hospitality and for sharing your little island paradise with others. We would happily return.
